About volume conversions

Enter a value and choose the units to convert between. Each volume unit is defined against a single base unit, so any pair lines up consistently, the table shows your value in every volume unit at once.

What this does

A volume converter changes a capacity from one unit to another, metric units like milliliters, liters, and cubic meters, and US or UK units like teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.

How to use it

  1. Enter a value and pick its unit.
  2. Choose the unit to convert to.
  3. Read the converted result instantly.
  4. Check whether you need US or UK measures.

How it works

Each value is converted to liters first and then to the target unit. US customary and UK imperial measures differ, a US gallon is 3.785 L while a UK gallon is 4.546 L, so the two are listed separately to avoid mix-ups.

liters = US gallons × 3.78541

Example

A US cup is about 236.6 mL, and 1 US gallon is about 3.785 liters. 250 mL is just over one metric cup.
