Batch ingredients

    Show the math

Every ingredient is multiplied by the same batch factor:

factor = drinks wanted ÷ drinks the recipe makes

For a stirred or shaken batch, remember real cocktails gain water from ice as they're mixed, roughly a fifth to a quarter extra volume. Add a splash of water to a pre-batched pitcher to mimic that dilution, and taste before serving.

    What this does

A cocktail batch scaler turns a single-drink recipe into a pitcher or party batch, multiplying every ingredient for the number of drinks you want.

    How to use it

    1. Enter the recipe per drink.
    2. Set how many drinks you want.
    3. Read every scaled ingredient.
    4. Add water for dilution.

    How it works

Every ingredient is multiplied by the same factor. Shaking or stirring with ice normally adds about 20–25% water, so batch in a similar splash.

factor = drinks wanted ÷ drinks per recipe

    Understanding your result

Scaling the ingredients is the easy part; dilution is what people miss. A single drink picks up water from shaking or stirring with ice, so a batch made without that step tastes stronger and needs roughly 20 to 25 percent added water to match the original.

    Example

Scaling a 1-drink recipe to a 12-drink pitcher multiplies each amount by 12.

    Frequently asked questions

    How does batch scaling work?

It multiplies every ingredient by the same factor (the number of drinks you want divided by how many the recipe makes) so the proportions stay identical.

Should I add water for dilution?

Yes. Shaking or stirring with ice normally adds roughly 20–25% water to a single drink. For a pre-batched pitcher, stir in a similar splash of water so it is not too strong.

    Can I scale any recipe?

Any recipe with measured ingredients. Add as many rows as you need; garnishes and "to taste" items are best judged by eye rather than scaled exactly.
