How it works
A 4×8 sheet is 32 sq ft. Plan roughly 0.05 lb of compound and 0.37 ft of tape per square foot of drywall.

Understanding your result
The sheet count plus the compound, tape, and screw estimates give you a full shopping list, with waste built in for cuts. Using longer sheets where they fit reduces the number of joints you have to tape and finish, which is the slow part of the job, so plan the layout for fewer seams and buy a spare sheet against breakage.
