How the Pomodoro technique works
Work in focused blocks (classically 25 minutes) separated by short breaks. After a set number of focus blocks (four by default) you take a longer break. The cycle keeps attention fresh and gives regular, guilt-free rest. All four durations above are adjustable.
The timer counts down against your device clock and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
What this does
A Pomodoro timer cycles focused work sessions with short and long breaks, helping you keep attention fresh through regular rest.
How to use it
- Set the focus length and break lengths.
- Choose how many sessions trigger a long break.
- Start the timer.
- Work until the break, then rest.
How it works
The classic technique uses 25-minute focus blocks separated by short breaks, with a longer break after several blocks. Every duration and the long-break interval are adjustable here.
Understanding your result
One full cycle is several focus blocks separated by short breaks with a longer break at the end, the value is the rhythm, not the exact minutes, so tune the durations to your own attention span. The session counter shows where you are in the cycle. The timer lives in your browser, so closing or reloading the tab resets it, keep it open for the duration of a session.
Example
Four 25-minute focus sessions with 5-minute breaks, followed by a 15-minute long break, make one full Pomodoro cycle.
