How it works

projected = confirmed yeses + pending × acceptance rate
Understanding your result
The projection lives or dies on the acceptance rate you assume, so use the higher end for a local wedding and a lower one for a destination event where travel thins the crowd. Plan catering and seating against the projected number rather than invitations sent, and tighten the estimate as real replies arrive instead of trusting the early guesses.
