Sale price
-
Show the math
The saving is a percentage of the price; a second discount stacks on the rest:
sale = price × (1 − d₁) × (1 − d₂)
A stacked discount applies to the already-reduced price, not the original, so 20% then 10% off is a 28% total saving, not 30%. The effective discount line shows the true combined percentage whenever you stack two offers.
What this does
A discount calculator finds the sale price and how much you save from a percentage discount, and can stack a second discount to show the true combined saving.
How it works
The saving is the original price times the percentage off, and the sale price is the original minus that saving. A stacked discount applies to the already-reduced price, not the original.
Sale price = original × (1 − percent off)
How to use it
- Enter the original price.
- Enter the percentage off.
- Optionally add a second stacked discount.
- Read the sale price and total saving.
Understanding your result
Stacked discounts do not simply add up: 20% then 10% off is a 28% total saving, not 30%, because the second cut applies to the lower price.
Example
25% off $200 saves $50 for a $150 sale price; adding a further 10% brings it to $135.

Frequently asked questions
How is the sale price calculated?
The amount saved is the original price times the percentage off; the sale price is the original price minus that saving. For example, 25% off $200 saves $50, leaving $150.
How do stacked discounts work?
A second discount applies to the already-reduced price, not the original. So 20% then 10% off $100 gives $72 (a 28% total saving), not $70, the tool shows the true combined percentage.
Can I work out the original price from a sale price?
This tool goes from original to sale price. To reverse it, divide the sale price by (1 − percent off ÷ 100).
